Sometimes waiting a day or two for a laboratory result is perfectly reasonable.

Sometimes the question you are trying to answer is useful right now.

That is where rapid in-house testing can help.

Avendano Health offers rapid in-house testing in Boca Raton for select tests that can provide results during the visit rather than being sent through the standard reference-laboratory workflow.

The current rapid-testing menu includes pregnancy testing, influenza testing, Strep A testing and HbA1c, with listed results in approximately 5–15 minutes depending on the test.

Local lab services are now available Monday through Friday by appointment.

Which Rapid Tests Are Available?

The current Rapid In-House Testing page lists several testing options.

  • Pregnancy testing is currently listed at $29.
  • Influenza testing is listed at $59.
  • Strep A testing is listed at $49.
  • HbA1c testing is listed at $39.

The broader Local Lab hub also distinguishes these rapid in-house tests from standard laboratory work that generally has a longer processing time.

Because services and pricing can change, patients should confirm the current test menu when booking.

See the current rapid-test menu and pricing before scheduling to confirm the test you need is currently available.

Rapid Flu Testing

Rapid influenza diagnostic tests can produce results in approximately 15 minutes, depending on the specific test being used.

Speed is useful, but a rapid result still needs appropriate interpretation.

The CDC cautions that rapid influenza tests can produce false-negative results, particularly when influenza activity is high.

A negative rapid result therefore does not always rule out influenza when symptoms and clinical circumstances strongly suggest it.

If you are significantly ill, at higher risk for complications, or have concerning symptoms, seek clinical evaluation rather than relying on a rapid test alone.

Rapid Strep Testing

A rapid Strep A test is intended to help identify group A streptococcal infection in the appropriate clinical setting.

A sore throat can have many causes, including viral infections, so a test result should be considered alongside symptoms and clinical assessment.

If symptoms are severe, persistent or accompanied by difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, dehydration or other concerning signs, seek appropriate medical care.

Rapid Pregnancy Testing

Pregnancy testing detects human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG.

The timing of testing matters because testing too early can sometimes produce a negative result even when pregnancy is present.

If a result is negative but pregnancy is still suspected, repeat testing or follow-up with a healthcare professional may be appropriate depending on timing and symptoms.

Severe abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, fainting or other concerning symptoms require prompt medical evaluation rather than routine testing alone.

Rapid HbA1c Testing

HbA1c is different from a single blood-glucose reading.

It reflects average blood-glucose exposure over approximately the previous two to three months.

That makes A1C useful in screening and monitoring diabetes and prediabetes in appropriate patients.

Another advantage is preparation: unlike some glucose-related blood testing, an HbA1c test generally does not require fasting.

An abnormal A1C should still be interpreted appropriately. Healthcare providers may use repeat or additional testing when diagnosing diabetes, and individual treatment targets can vary.

Rapid Testing vs. Standard Lab Testing

"Rapid" does not mean every test offered by the Local Lab comes back in minutes. That distinction is important.

Select in-house tests can provide results during the visit, while many standard blood tests are processed through the regular laboratory pathway and are generally listed with results in approximately 24–48 hours.

Need rapid testing? Use Rapid In-House Testing for the select tests offered on-site with results in minutes.

Need CBC, CMP, thyroid, hormone or other standard blood work? Those tests belong under General Lab Work instead.

If you need CBC, CMP, thyroid, hormone or other standard blood work, use our General Lab Work service instead.

If you specifically need one of the available rapid tests, use Rapid In-House Testing.

That keeps the path from search to booking simple.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast are rapid-test results?

Avendano's current rapid-testing information lists results in approximately 5–15 minutes for select in-house tests.

Does a negative rapid flu test rule out influenza?

No. The CDC notes that false-negative rapid influenza results can occur, so symptoms and clinical circumstances still matter.

Do I need to fast for an HbA1c test?

Generally, no. HbA1c reflects average blood glucose over the preceding two to three months and does not ordinarily require fasting.

Are all laboratory tests available as rapid tests?

No. Rapid in-house testing is a separate category covering select tests. Standard blood work follows the regular laboratory-testing pathway.
